Cedar Wills
Cedar Wills is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. The templates and information here are a self-help tool — not a substitute for advice from a licensed lawyer.

Why Cedar Wills

A will is serious. So is trusting us with one.

Here’s how we think about earning that trust — including the situations where we’ll tell you to hire a lawyer instead.

Scoped to guided Ontario planning

The current experience helps Ontario users organize information and review a planning draft. It does not generate a finalized document or claim statutory compliance or legal validity. Finalization, hosted downloads, and signing guidance remain blocked until the required Ontario legal and hosted-document approvals are complete.

You control your planning draft

You can review and edit your guided draft during pre-launch. If paid finalization is later approved, its entitlement will cover the included documents while your account remains active and Cedar supports that product. A lawyer can review your circumstances independently of Cedar.

Encrypted at rest. No data sales.

Draft contents are encrypted on our servers using AES-256-GCM. The app checks your signed-in account before loading your draft; decryption happens on our servers. We make money by charging you for a product, not by selling you to anyone else. Account settings provides an account deletion request and its status.

One-time payment. No subscription.

The published Cedar catalog uses one-time purchases rather than recurring subscriptions. Paid checkout remains unavailable until the required Ontario product, legal, Terms, Privacy, and launch gates are complete.

When guided planning may help — and when to ask a lawyer

Cedar can help organize information, but it cannot decide whether a self-help product is legally appropriate for your circumstances.

Currently available planning questions:

  • ✓Your identity and Ontario residence
  • ✓Your family details and children
  • ✓Your executor and alternate executor
  • ✓Your beneficiaries and percentage splits
  • ✓Guardians for minor children

Talk to a lawyer (not us) if:

  • ·You own a business or have significant self-employment income
  • ·You have assets outside Canada
  • ·Your estate is valued above approximately $2 million
  • ·You’re planning complex testamentary trusts (spousal, Henson, etc.)
  • ·You’re in a blended family with potential for contested claims
  • ·You anticipate your will being challenged

What Cedar Wills is — and isn’t

Cedar Wills currently provides a guided planning form and a draft review experience. It does not currently provide finalized documents, hosted downloads, or signing instructions. Those outcomes remain unavailable pending required approvals.

We are not a law firm. We do not provide legal advice. No lawyer-client relationship is created by your use of this site. Nothing on this website or in our documents constitutes legal advice for your specific situation.

Security & data practices

How is my data protected in transit and at rest?
All traffic between your browser and our servers is HTTPS-only. Draft contents are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM with a server-side key. The app checks your signed-in account before loading your draft; decryption happens on our servers.
Can I delete my data?
You can request account deletion from Account settings and review its status there. Individual draft deletion is not currently available in the portal. Finalized-document downloads are not currently available.
Do you sell my data?
No. We make money by charging you for a product, not by selling you to anyone else.

Ready when you are.

Guided draft planning is available. Paid finalization is not.
